I began volunteering with the Richmond Retrievers in September 2021, creating social media graphics and shooting photography during team practices. After a few months of serving in that role, I pitched the idea of a reimagined of the Retrievers identity. Their initial logo was created from an illustration and I felt they needed something a bit more polished in order to stand out in the American Special Hockey Association. The parents and organization loved the original character illustration and were not keen on parting ways with it. So to strike a compromise, I took the drawing and cleaned up the noisiest elements of the fur and eyes in order to create a new primary logo. This project also involved developing a secondary paw logo, tertiary monogram logo, wordmark, and new uniforms for the team to sport on the ice at the first annual charity game in July 2023.
